Ngày 2/5/2014 Trung Quốc đã đưa trái phép giàn khoan HD – 981 vào hoạt động trong vùng đặc quyền kinh tế và thềm lục địa của Việt Nam, thực hiện một bước đi mới có tính chất đột biến cực kỳ nguy hiểm trong “chiến lược” xâm chiếm Biển Đông đã được hoạch định từ rất lâu của họ. Càng nghiêm trọng hơn là họ đã cho 80 tàu quân sự và hải giám theo giàn khoan tiến vào hải phận Việt Nam, và ngày 3 và 4/5/2014 đã tấn công các tàu ngư chính và cảnh sát biển của Việt Nam làm nhiệm vụ. Đây rõ ràng là hành động xâm lược không thể chối cãi.
Ngày hôm nay, Nhà nước Việt Nam đã có những tuyên bố và hành động khẳng định chủ quyền Việt Nam tại vùng biển mà giàn khoan HD – 981 của Trung Quốc tiến vào. Chúng tôi, những người viết văn trong Ban Vận động Văn đoàn Độc lập Việt Nam kiến nghị Nhà nước có những biện pháp cương quyết hơn nữa, không để Trung Quốc thực hiện được “việc đã rồi” theo ý muốn thâm độc của họ. Thái độ cương quyết một cách tỉnh táo của Nhà nước chắc chắn sẽ được sự ủng hộ của toàn dân, là nhân tố vô cùng quan trọng để tạo nên sức mạnh to lớn của đất nước nhằm bảo vệ toàn vẹn lãnh thổ quốc gia. Ngược lại, mọi thể hiện nhu nhược hay không minh bạch trước các hành động leo thang trắng trợn của Trung Quốc sẽ khiến lòng dân bất bình, đi đến nguy cơ bất tín nhiệm chính quyền, vô cùng nguy hiểm cho vận mệnh quốc gia.
Ban Vận động Văn đoàn Độc lập Việt Nam xác định trách nhiệm cùng với mọi tổ chức xã hội dân sự động viên các thành viên của mình ủng hộ Nhà nước Việt Nam thực hiện cuộc đấu tranh bằng mọi biện pháp để buộc Trung Quốc phải rút giàn khoan HD – 981 cùng mọi tàu quân sự và hải giám ra khỏi vùng biển Việt Nam, chấm dứt mọi hành động xâm chiếm đất và biển của việt Nam.
Chúng tôi kêu gọi các nhà văn Việt Nam, các nhà văn gốc Việt thuộc mọi quốc tịch, bằng ngòi bút, bằng mọi hành động khác trong khả năng của mình, góp phần cho chiến thắng của chính nghĩa Việt Nam trong cuộc đấu tranh bảo vệ chủ quyền trên Biển Đông. Chúng tôi kêu gọi các nhà văn Trung Quốc chân chính đứng về phía chính nghĩa, làm cho nhân dân Trung Quốc hiểu rõ sự thực về chủ quyền của Việt Nam trên Biển Đông, không để nhà cầm quyền Trung Quốc kích động tư tưởng nước lớn nhằm biện minh những hành động bành trướng của họ. Chúng tôi kêu gọi các nhà văn thuộc mọi quốc gia đứng về phía quyền lợi chính đáng của Việt Nam cũng như của các nước nhỏ ở Đông Nam Á trong cuộc đấu tranh chống âm mưu chiếm đoạt Biển Đông của Trung Quốc.
Tổ quốc lâm nguy! Con mắt Bạch Đằng, con mắt Đống Đa, con mắt Điện Biên Phủ đang dõi theo mọi hành vi của con cháu hôm nay trong sứ mệnh bảo vệ từng tấc đất, tấc biển thiêng liêng của Tổ quốc mà cha ông đã dựng chủ quyền qua ngàn năm mồ hôi và máu.
Tất cả những người Việt Nam yêu nước, không phân biệt chính kiến, trong giờ phút hiểm nguy này của Tổ quốc hãy đoàn kết một lòng bảo vệ chủ quyền và toàn vẹn lãnh thổ quốc gia.

STATEMENT FROM THE COMMITTEE TO PROMOTE THE FOUNDING OF THE LEAGUE OF INDEPENDENT VIETNAMESE WRITERS ON CHINESE INVASION OF VIETNAM WITH ILLEGAL SET UP OF THE HD-981 OIL RIG AND ARMED VESSELS OFF THE COAST OF VIETNAM
On May 2nd, 2014, China illegally set up the HD-981 oil rig in Vietnam’s exclusive economic zone and continental shelf. This action is considered as China’s extremely dangerous new step in their long-term strategic plan to invade the South China Sea. It is reported that in order to protect the oil rig, China has sent as many as 80 military vessels and maritime surveillance ships to Vietnam’s territorial waters. On May 3rd and May 4th, 2014, those vessels attacked Vietnamese fishing control ships and maritime police vessels, which were on duty to protect Vietnam’s sea. The illegal set up of the oil rig on Vietnamese waters is obviously and indisputably an act of invasion.
The Vietnamese government has made declarations and has acted to assert their sovereignty over sea waters where China’s HD-981 oil rig was installed. However, we – members of the Committee to Promote the Founding of the League of Independent Vietnamese Writers – request a stauncher position and firmer measures from the Vietnamese government to prevent China from accomplishing their vile “fait accompli”. The determination and clear vision of the Vietnamese government to protect its waters and thus its sovereignty, will certainly be supported by the people. The people’s approval is a crucial factor in creating the nation’s strength to protect the country’s territorial integrity. In contrast, an ambiguous or vague stance by the Vietnamese government toward the escalation of China’s blatantly aggressive actions will not only make people feel indignant but also ruin the people’s trust in the government, and as a result, the future of the nation will be at risk.
The Committee to Promote the Founding of the League of Independent Vietnamese Writers declares our responsibility in connection with other civil society organizations to encourage their members to stand in favor of the Vietnamese government in their fight to implement all necessary measures to force China to withdraw their HD-981 oil rig and all their military and maritime surveillance ships off Vietnam’s coast, thus ending China’s invasion over Vietnam’s land and sea.
We call upon Vietnamese writers and all writers who share Vietnamese heritage from all over the world, with your pen, your hearts, and your actions, to fight for Vietnam’s sovereignty over the South China Sea. We call upon Chinese writers to stand on the side of righteousness, to awaken the Chinese people to see the truth about Vietnam’s sovereignty over the South China Sea. In addition, we urge Chinese writers to not enable the Chinese authorities to enact a neo-colonial ideology as a means to justify their expansion projects. We call upon the writers of all nations to support the just cause of Vietnam as well as other small countries in Southeast Asia in our fight against China’s plot to appropriate all of the South China Sea.
Vietnamese, all those who love their country, irrespective of political opinions, in this moment when our nation being in peril, let’s unite to defend the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Vietnam!
The Fatherland is in danger! The Eyes of Bach Dang, the eyes of Dong Da, the eyes of Dien Bien Phu are watching their descendants’ actions to protect every sacred inch of land and water of the fatherland, which our ancestors built through thousands of years of sweat and blood.
